Fireside Chat

The Fireside Chat is an annual event held each spring. It features a talk by the Chair of the CSE department and provides an opportunity for open student-faculty discussion.

[edit] 2009 Chat

The 2009 Fireside Chat was held on Monday, March 30th, at 7 PM in Millstone Lounge. Various pastas from Olive Garden were served. It featured a short overview of the state of the department by Dr. Roman, then a lengthy discussion between students and faculty about various topics, including:

  • New hires
  • The state of the department's transition to "studio learning"
  • The possibility of offering a broader view of programming languages/tools
