It's the middle of the semester, and that means it's time for another GBM!

The meeting will feature an Alumni Talk by former WU ACM President Ben Oberkfell, who will be talking about the cool software development work being done with Perl at the Genome Center (and how you can get a job doing it!)

Time: Thursday, 10/15 at 7 PM
Place: Lopata 5

And yes, there will be delicious food and drink for all.

Coming Up - Fireside ChatMarch 25, 2009

Remember, the annual Fireside Chat is coming up this coming Monday night! Here's the info:

Monday, March 30th at 7:00pm

Millstone Lounge
(In between 4th floor of Bryan Hall and McMillen Lab)

We'll be getting Italian food from Olive Garden, and we need YOU to come eat it! In addition, CSE department chair Dr. Catalin Roman will be giving a short talk, and then the evening will become an informal, open forum for students and faculty to talk about whatever's on their mind. You don't want to miss this great opportunity!

Alumni Talk - CiscoFebruary 09, 2009

Bruce Bastian (class of '94) is coming to talk about his experiences working with Cisco Systems. He'll explain how Cisco isn't just a router company, and how they've been getting into fields like telepresence and computer vision to adapt to the changing global business environment.

This is also a great opportunity for getting a foot in the door with Cisco's internship program and building connections that can be useful post-graduation.

ACM Course Registration PartyOctober 30, 2008

Where: DUC Room 239 (NOT the ACM lounge)
When: 6 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday November 10th

It's that time of year again, that is, time to start thinking about which classes to take next semester. Instead of sifting through a coursebook or getting a biased pitch from your advisor, come chat with fellow CS students willing to tell all about their experiences.

Avoid unintelligble, boring, and difficult professors!
Learn which classes you really need, which you'll really like, and which you should try to avoid at all costs!

Upperclassmen: Whine about your classes to sympathetic ears! Influence the decisions of those younger than you!

Snacky food will be provided, with the possibility of fresh-baked cookies!
